At Milky Whites, we strive to exel in pediatric dental care with a vision that focuses on a healthy future for your child.
We have made every possible effort to create a warm, happy and child-friendly environment for both the child and parent to feel reassured, relaxed and at ease, the moment they enter our practice.
We strive to establish a strong bond of trust with each child patient and parents to provide the best care possible, with an equal emphasis on creating a customized preventive dental regimen for every patient. We endeavor to help children accept dental care as a fun and easy, yet important part of their health. We aim for early dental evaluation by which we educate families about prevention so that we can control the cause of the disease. In case of the manifestation of dental disease, however, we provide the highest quality of pediatric dentistry using the most advanced technology in addition to our compassionate and tender loving care.
Our practice is based on the philosophy of professional care known as: Minimum intervention dentistry which is concerned with the first occurrence, early detection, and earliest possible cure of disease on micro levels, followed by minimally invasive, patient-friendly treatment to repair irreversible damage caused by such disease. The benefit for patients from minimum intervention dentistry lies in better oral health through disease healing and not merely on symptom relief. Further more, minimally invasive treatment assists in reducing widespread patient dental anxieties. Minimum intervention dentistry has the potential to apply a more conservative approach to treatment of cavities and simultaneously offer patients less invasive, health-oriented treatment options.
Dear Parent
I would like to use this opportunity to invite you to help me in developing a positive and proactive attitude in your child towards dental health. Children who have pleasant dental appointments when they are very young are likely to have a positive outlook towards dental care throughout life. The initial appointments are very important in building a positive attitude. Dental visits have evoked anxiety and fear for generations, but fortunately over the years dental medicine has progressed extensively and our children can now benefit from the new knowledge, techniques, tools and materials. These enable us to provide safe, pleasant and effective treatment in a reassuring environment, with minimal pain and discomfort. As a parent your role is instrumental in developing a positive attitude in your child towards oral care. Please do not let your child see your anxiety and apprehension in the initial visits as they will sense that you are worried and will presume that there is a reason for fear. A valuable contribution you can make is to prepare your child for his/her first visit to the dentist and let it not come as a surprise. Prepare your child for a new experience that will excite them and enables them to view their dental visit as an opportunity to meet some new people who want to help them stay healthy.
At our first appointment we will examine your child’s teeth and gums and take any necessary x-rays. Explain to your child in an easy going manner, that the dentist is a friend, who will have a look at his/her teeth, count them, teach your child how to keep them clean and perhaps even take some photographs of their teeth. Thus, once they are prepared for what to expect, for most children this will be an interesting and even happy occasion. Your co-operation will go a long way in your child enjoying a pleasant and successful dental experience. Good general health depends partly on the development of good habits, such as sensible eating, sleeping routines and exercise. Similarly, dental health also depends on good habits such as proper tooth-brushing, regular dental visits, and a good diet.
We will have a chance to further discuss these points during your child’s appointment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rachayta Parikh Gala
Office Policies
The office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. Preschool children should be seen in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with them for their comfort. School children with a lot of work to be done should be seen in the morning for the same reason. Dental appointments are an excused absence. Missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is continued.
Since appointed times are reserved exclusively for each patient we ask that you please notify our office 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you are unable to keep your appointment. Another patient, who needs our care, could be scheduled if we have sufficient time to notify them. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.
We invite you to stay with your child during the initial examination. During future appointments, we suggest you allow your child to accompany our staff through the dental experience. We can usually establish a closer rapport with your child when you are not present. Our purpose is to gain your child’s confidence and overcome apprehension. However, if you choose, you may come with your child to the treatment room. For the safety and privacy of all patients, other children who are not being treated should remain in the reception room with a supervising adult.
