Dr. Rachayta Parikh Gala

MDS | Pediatric & Preventive Dentist | Certified Orofacial Myotherapist

Dr. Gala is one of Mumbai’s most trusted pediatric dentists — and one of very few specialists in the city trained in orofacial myotherapy and jaw development therapy for children.

She doesn’t just treat teeth. She looks at how your child breathes, swallows, and uses the muscles of their face — because these patterns shape the jaw, the face, and the smile.

  • Gold Medallist, Maharashtra University — MDS Pediatric Dentistry
  • BDS — First in institute, Nair Hospital Dental College
  • Certified Orofacial Myotherapist (international training)

Questions Mumbai Parents Ask Us

What age should my child first visit the dentist?
The first dental visit should be by your child’s first birthday or within 6 months of their first tooth appearing — whichever comes first. At Milky Whites, we see children from newborn age. Early visits help us prevent problems before they start and help your child build a genuinely positive relationship with dental care.
What is orofacial myotherapy and does my child need it?
Orofacial myotherapy retrains the muscles of the face, mouth, and throat. Your child may benefit if they breathe through their mouth, snore, have a tongue thrust, grind their teeth, have a narrow jaw, or have difficulty chewing. Dr. Gala is a certified orofacial myotherapist — one of very few in Mumbai.
Do you treat tongue tie in babies and older children?
Yes. We provide comprehensive tongue tie assessment for infants and older children. Tongue tie can affect breastfeeding, speech, dental development, and airway. Many children go undiagnosed for years — we assess tongue tie in children of all ages and offer both assessment and treatment at our Juhu clinic.
When should my child have their first orthodontic assessment?
We recommend a first orthodontic assessment at age 7. The jaw is still actively growing at this age, giving us the most opportunity to guide development and avoid complex treatment later. We specialise in early interceptive orthodontics that works with jaw growth — not against it.
My child is very scared of dentists. Can you help?
Absolutely — and this is one of our specialities. Our clinic is designed entirely to feel fun and safe for children. Dr. Gala uses age-appropriate communication and gentle behaviour management techniques. Most children who arrive scared leave happy and even asking when they can come back!
Do you treat children with special needs?
Yes. We are trained and experienced in treating children with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other special healthcare needs. We offer in-clinic management and, where required, treatment under general anaesthesia. Please call us to discuss your child’s specific needs.
